TOK: Summary of ideas pages 204 - 216 (Chap 7.4)

History, is a way in which the past is presented to us, due to events and things that have happened and been recorded. History books were written about what happened previously to our present time now, and also previous to our lives. When recorded facts of the past, it is important that historians gather primary documents in order to keep their recordings as accurate as possible. Primary sources are documents which were written, drawn, created etc during the time of the event etc. Therefore, first hand witness's who either saw or took place in the event recorded what happened, creating an accurate source.  There is in fact a possibility Historians can gather false information and record that information, leaving individuals with a wrong explanation of what happened previously. A Secondary source is one that was not written during the time or by a first and witness and therefore leaves room for in accuracy due to their being either miss-communication, false findings, missing documents etc. The facts of History allow us to create and our future and get where we are today. It is one big story and the past is needed to relate to the future and to complete the story.

CAS 4 - Kickboxing

So far in Kickboxing we have been focusing on many different techniques. We have moved to a higher level of learning, and are practicing moves that cannot always be blocked, therefore leaving us very on the edge. It has been a great 3 months so far and i have enjoyed every single class. The combination of techniques and circuit training is vigorous and can be very tiring. Although i really enjoy it, at times i am very unenthusiastic and really don't want to go, but i learn to suck it up and go :)
Kickboxing has done a lot for me over the corse of my training, it has allowed me to meet new people throughout the island of Antigua and make new friends, i have been able to stay fit and active while enjoying myself and doing something i love. My kickboxing instructor is planning to set up tournaments, allowing us to fight. I have never fought seriously, but i do have a fight lined up which i am waiting for but extremely nervous. I plan to continue Kickboxing for the rest of the school year and even next school year hopefully being able to fight and compete.

CAS 3: Final Reflection - Tiny Treasures Halloween Party

Tiny Treasures Halloween Party

Every Halloween Tiny Treasures Day Care hosts a Halloween party open to the public of Antigua. The Party usually consists of children from the ages 1 - 15, and is filled with sounds of screaming, laughing and playing. A Haunted House, Barbecue, drink stalls and toy stalls are always present, providing a wide range of activities and entertainment for the kids. Growing up, up until 4 years ago I would attend this Halloween party. Being asked to volunteer and help really meant something to me as it was an event that connected with me as a child and completely understood the excitement of the children around.

I was thrilled and very enthusiastic about helping out at this event when the offer came up and was very appreciative of the opportunity. When arriving to the party, the expressions on the kid’s faces made me feel so happy, especially seeing them all dressed up and filled with energy as they ran around and played different games. My task for the night was to sell the different Halloween toys and items, which was very enjoyable. Seeing the faces of children when buying the toys was just priceless. At times my job was a little bit tiring and boring, but overall it was really enjoyable, interacting with little kids and working with new people was all a great experience.

Overall, the night was a success and it was a pleasure to volunteer. At the end of the night it felt good to have given back to my community.
